Kamala Travel Guide

The road that enters Kamala from Patong is quite large and literally splits the village in two, with the local population living towards the mountain and the travelers along the beach. There are four lanes and several sets of traffic lights, making it easy to believe that there really isn’t too much to see. However, there is a left turn just at the bottom of the hill as you enter that will lead you to an enticing piece of paradise along the beachfront.

Kamala Beach

Kamala’s beach street begins your journey into something quite different. Along the street you’ll find several quaint small restaurants and bars, as well as various shops and convenience stores. Kamala is quiet and cozy, and it’s best to go to experience the feeling for yourself. Sadly Kamala was hit hard during the 2004 Tsunami and the Memorial Shrine is a silent reminder of this tragedy.
